How Origo Works
A simple, transparent process from original image or video to verified source.
1. Register Your Original
Upload the image or video clip you want to register as the original. Provide a title, description, and relevant metadata. Origo creates a SHA-256 cryptographic fingerprint and anchors it to the Polygon blockchain with a timestamped registration record — permanent, immutable proof of existence.
2. Download the Trust Mark
Origo generates a marked version of your image containing the Origo Verified Source badge, your unique asset ID, and a QR code. Customize the position, size, and style of the trust mark to fit your content. (Trust mark overlay applies to images; video assets receive a verification page and blockchain proof.)
3. Viewers Compare
Anyone who encounters your marked image or video can scan the QR code or visit the verification page. They can view the registered original, see the registration details, and upload the version they encountered for a side-by-side comparison.
4. Verification Results
The comparison tool analyzes both images (or confirms a video hash) and provides a clear result — from exact match to altered version detected. Viewers see the original and the checked version side by side to make their own judgment.
Monitoring — Origo Watch
Origo Watch continuously scans the web for unauthorized use of your registered images using reverse image search. When a match is found — a cropped version in an ad, a face swap in a social post, a product image on a competitor's site — you receive an alert with the source URL, platform, and a similarity score. New discoveries are ranked by risk so you focus on what matters most.
Explore Origo Watch in detail →C2PA Manifest — Content Credentials
Every registered image on Origo can carry a C2PA Content Credentials manifest — a cryptographically signed provenance record embedded in the file itself. This manifest is recognized by Adobe, Google, Microsoft, and every major platform that supports the Coalition for Content Provenance and Authenticity (C2PA) standard. When your image is opened in any C2PA-compatible tool, the credentials are visible and verifiable without Origo. The Context feature lets you analyze exactly how a discovered image is being used: what context it appears in, what claims surround it, and whether that use is consistent with what you authorized.
See how Content Credentials work →Permissions — Origo Authorize
Origo Authorize lets you create formal usage authorizations for your registered images — specifying the authorized brand, campaign, platform, geographic territory, and expiry date. Each authorization generates a signed record that links back to the original registered asset. When Watch detects your image in the wild, authorized uses are automatically labeled so you can focus your attention on the unauthorized ones.
Manage licensing and permissions with Authorize →Identity Verification
Origo Identity is a verified record of your real identity, linked to your registered assets. Verification is performed through government-issued document review. Once verified, your public Origo profile displays a confirmed identity badge — making it immediately clear to anyone viewing your registered images that the registration belongs to a real, verified person, not an anonymous account. Verified creators have stronger standing in takedown disputes and platform enforcement actions.
Learn how identity verification works →Impersonation Detection
Beyond image misuse, Origo detects fake accounts and impersonation — accounts using your name, likeness, or brand to deceive followers, solicit money, or damage your reputation. Origo Impersonation runs scheduled scans across social platforms, flagging accounts that match your protected identity profile. Each result includes an AI-generated risk score and a one-click path to reporting the account or opening a formal case.
See how impersonation detection works →Active Perimeter Defense
Active Perimeter Defense deploys forensic honey assets — decoy images embedded with invisible tracking tokens — into known scraper environments. When a scraper or AI training pipeline accesses the decoy, the token fires, revealing the scraper's IP address, the requesting domain, and the time of access. Unlike passive registration, APD actively draws out unauthorized actors rather than waiting for misuse to surface in a web search.
Evidence & Enforcement — Origo Takedown
When unauthorized use is confirmed, Origo Takedown builds a complete DMCA evidence package from your registered asset record: the original file hash, blockchain timestamp, registration metadata, and a forensic comparison report showing the similarity between your original and the infringing copy. The package is formatted for direct submission to platform takedown portals — no lawyer required for the filing itself. For cases requiring legal escalation, the package transfers directly to Origo Resolve.
