Terms of Service

Last updated: July 5, 2026

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Origo and its platform services (the "Services"). By creating an account, registering an asset, or accessing any public verification page, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, you may not use the Services.

1. Platform Overview

Origo is a verified source registry for original digital images and videos, and provides a suite of protection tools. The Services include:

  • Product Protection — Registration mode for product and brand listing images for e-commerce protection, with automatic watch configuration.
  • Misuse Incidents — Documentation and management tools for tracking suspected misuse, including bulk takedown package generation.
  • Agency Accounts — Tiered multi-identity monitoring accounts for agencies managing multiple creators or brands.
  • Support Tickets — In-app support system for account, billing, technical, and verification assistance.

Collectively these are referred to as "the Services." Some features require a paid subscription plan and may not be available to all users.

2. Eligibility and Accounts

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. You are responsible for all activity under your account and for maintaining the confidentiality of your credentials. Organizations may register under a company account; the individual registering is responsible for ensuring appropriate authority to do so.

Origo offers different account types including individual creators, public figures, photographers/artists, brands/companies, agency representatives, news media, political campaigns, and corporate communications. You must select the account type that accurately reflects your status. Misrepresenting your account type is a material breach of these Terms.

3. Subscription Plans and Billing

Origo offers tiered subscription plans (Origin, Watch, Identity, Protect, and Enterprise) with varying features, limits, and pricing. Plan details and current pricing are displayed on our Pricing page.

  • Subscriptions are billed on a monthly or annual cycle through Base44 Payments (powered by Wix Payments) or via invoice for enterprise and agency accounts.
  • Each plan includes specific vault limits (registered asset slots), monitoring slots, team member limits, and feature access. Exceeding these limits requires purchasing add-on packs or upgrading your plan.
  • Agency accounts may be configured with custom identity limits and monthly pricing, subject to admin approval. Comped agency accounts receive full access without payment.
  • Plan upgrades, downgrades, and cancellations take effect per the billing terms communicated at checkout. Blockchain registration records remain permanent regardless of subscription status (see Section 8).
  • Refunds, if any, are governed by the refund policy in effect at the time of purchase.

4. Image and Video Registration and Ownership Representations

By registering an image or video on Origo you represent and warrant that:

  • You are the original creator, authorized rights holder, or have documented permission from the rights holder to register the asset.
  • The asset does not infringe any third-party copyright, trademark, right of publicity, or other intellectual property right.
  • All information you provide — including authorship, date of creation, rights-holder identity, permitted uses, geographic restrictions, and platform permissions — is accurate to the best of your knowledge.
  • For product catalog registrations, the product SKU and official store URL you provide are accurate and you are authorized to protect the listed product imagery.

False registration is a material breach of these Terms and may result in immediate account suspension, credential revocation, and referral to the appropriate authorities.

Origo supports registration of both images and video clips. Video registrations generate a downloadable trust mark badge overlay (PNG) that you may place over your video in any editing software. Origo does not alter or re-encode the original video file.

5. How We Process Your Assets

When you register an image or video, Origo will: (a) store a copy of the file in secure private storage; (b) compute a SHA-256 cryptographic hash and a perceptual fingerprint; (c) submit a registration record to the Polygon Mainnet blockchain; and (d) compare the asset against existing registered assets to detect potential duplicate or derivative registrations. Full details are set out in our Privacy Policy.

For product catalog assets, Origo will also automatically configure optimized Watch settings to monitor for unauthorized use, with the official store URL you provide automatically excluded from results.

6. Trust Marks

Origo provides downloadable trust marks (verification badges) that you may apply to your registered images or video overlays. Trust mark styles include Standard, Minimalist, Ghost, and Whitelabel, with availability determined by your subscription plan.

  • Trust marks include a QR code linking to your asset's public verification page and may include Origo branding, your asset ID, and a short verification URL.
  • You are responsible for correctly applying trust marks to your assets. Origo is not liable for misuse, misplacement, or alteration of trust marks by third parties.
  • You may not use Origo trust marks on assets that are not registered on Origo, or misrepresent the verification status of any asset.
  • Trust marks are provided as downloadable files. For images, Origo composites the badge onto your image in the browser; for videos, you receive a transparent PNG overlay to apply in your video editor of choice.

7. Origo Watch — Monitoring and Reverse Image Search

Origo Watch performs automated reverse image searches across the web to detect potential unauthorized use of your registered assets. You acknowledge that:

  • Search results are generated by third-party search providers and may include false positives, incomplete results, or results below your similarity threshold.
  • You may configure watch settings including frequency, alert thresholds, authorized domains, ignored domains, and notification preferences.
  • Origo is not responsible for the accuracy, availability, or completeness of third-party search results, and does not warrant that all unauthorized uses will be detected.
  • Monitoring slots and search frequency are limited by your subscription plan.
  • Results may be converted into formal misuse incidents for documentation and takedown purposes.

8. Blockchain Records

Registration records anchored to the Polygon Mainnet blockchain are permanent and cannot be deleted. This is an inherent property of public distributed ledger technology. The on-chain record contains only your asset ID, SHA-256 hash, timestamp, and rights-holder name — no image or video file data is stored on-chain. You acknowledge and accept this immutability as a condition of using blockchain-based registration.

Blockchain transaction references may be viewed on Polygonscan. Origo is not responsible for the availability or accuracy of third-party blockchain explorers.

9. Session Watermarking on Public Verification Pages

By using Origo's public verification pages, you acknowledge and consent to the following technical practice.

What happens. When any person views a public verification page for a registered asset, Origo's platform embeds an invisible steganographic session token — a short alphanumeric Scan ID — into the pixel data of the displayed image. This process uses the HTML Canvas API and occurs entirely within the viewer's browser. The modification is imperceptible to the human eye.

Purpose. Session watermarking is an anti-impersonation and platform-integrity mechanism. Its sole purpose is to allow forensic detection of fake verification pages and unauthorized re-distribution of originals sourced from Origo. If a fraudulent actor screenshots or scrapes the displayed image from a legitimate verification page and re-publishes it on a counterfeit site, the embedded Scan ID demonstrates the image's provenance from a genuine Origo session.

What is not embedded. The Scan ID is a random session reference and contains no personal information — no name, email address, IP address, device identifier, or account identifier. It is not used to track individuals across sessions or build behavioral profiles.

Scope of consent. By accessing a public verification page at protectwithorigo.com or any official Origo domain, you acknowledge that the image displayed may contain an invisible session token as described above. This practice is disclosed here and on the verification page itself via the "Verify This Page" panel.

Creator control. Registered creators may disable public visibility for any asset in their dashboard. Disabling public visibility removes the public verification page and prevents session watermarking for that asset.

10. Live Verification and Cryptographic Handshake

Public verification pages include live verification features that confirm the page is being served in real time from Origo's servers. These features include a live session token that refreshes periodically, a page view counter, and a cryptographic browser handshake.

The cryptographic handshake uses WebCrypto HMAC-SHA256 to verify that the viewer's browser completed a challenge with Origo servers. A static copy of a verification page on any other domain cannot pass this check. You acknowledge that these features are provided for platform integrity and anti-impersonation purposes, and that Origo makes no warranty that they will detect all fraudulent or counterfeit verification pages.

11. Origo Context — AI Analysis

Origo Context uses AI-powered analysis to assess how registered assets are being used in surrounding context, including the text, placement, and environment in which your image appears on third-party websites.

  • Context analyses are generated by large language models and may be incomplete, inaccurate, or subject to interpretation.
  • Results are provided for informational purposes and do not constitute legal advice or a determination of infringement.
  • Analyses with risk scores below the applicable threshold may be filtered from your dashboard.

12. Origo Authorize and Origo Request

Origo Authorize allows you to create and manage authorizations for the use of your registered assets. Origo Request allows third parties to submit permission requests directly to you for proposed uses of your assets.

  • You may configure which request types you accept and which categories you auto-decline, both per-asset and globally via your creator settings.
  • By default, newly registered assets will accept usage requests based on your creator profile settings.
  • Authorization records you create may be publicly verifiable at a dedicated authorization verification URL.
  • Origo facilitates the communication of requests and authorizations but is not a party to any licensing agreement between you and a requester. You are solely responsible for negotiating and enforcing any license terms.
  • Authorization statuses are periodically updated automatically. Origo is not liable for any expired or inactive authorizations that are not reflected in the system at the time of a request.

13. Origo Identity and Impersonation Monitoring

Origo Identity allows you to create protected identity records — for individuals, public figures, or brands — that include reference images, identity vaults, and monitoring settings. Origo Impersonation detects and reports potential impersonation across search engines, social platforms, marketplaces, booking sites, and other sources.

  • You represent that you are the individual being protected, or that you are an authorized representative with documented authority to protect the identity in question.
  • Impersonation results are generated by third-party search and monitoring providers and may include false positives or incomplete results.
  • Risk scores are algorithmically generated and do not constitute a legal determination of impersonation or fraud.
  • You may configure monitoring scope, search frequency, alert thresholds, and notification preferences, subject to your subscription plan limits.
  • Impersonation reports may be generated for documentation and legal purposes.

14. Identity Verification

Origo offers identity verification through Stripe Identity and manual document review. Verification status is displayed on your creator profile and on public verification pages for your assets.

  • Verification statuses include: unverified, pending, verified, failed, and suspended.
  • If you use Stripe Identity, your verification documents are processed by Stripe according to Stripe's privacy policy and terms. Origo does not store your raw identity documents.
  • Verified status indicates that Origo has taken reasonable steps to confirm your identity. It is not a guarantee of identity, legal status, or ownership of any asset.
  • Origo reserves the right to revoke verified status at any time if fraud, misrepresentation, or violation of these Terms is discovered.
  • Verification reminders may be sent to users who have not yet completed identity verification.

15. Claimed Originals and Abuse Reporting

The Claimed Originals feature allows creators to claim ownership of original images. Users and viewers may file reports against claimed originals if they believe a claim is fraudulent, belongs to another owner, or represents an AI-generated or altered image.

  • Claims that receive three or more independent reports may be automatically suspended pending review.
  • Origo admins review flagged claims and may resolve them as confirmed, removed, or account-flagged.
  • Filing a false or malicious report is a violation of these Terms and may result in account suspension.
  • Claimed originals may be synced from Instagram or uploaded manually.
  • Monthly summary emails of claimed originals activity may be sent to creators. You may opt out of these summaries in your creator settings.

16. Misuse Incidents and Takedown Packages

Origo provides tools to document suspected misuse of your registered assets, including individual misuse incidents and bulk incident management. You may generate DMCA takedown packages (PDF) and receive platform-specific reporting instructions for major platforms including Meta, Google, Etsy, Pinterest, TikTok, Amazon, and Temu.

  • Takedown packages and reporting instructions are provided for informational purposes and do not constitute legal advice.
  • Origo does not submit takedown notices on your behalf unless explicitly stated for a specific feature. You are responsible for filing any takedown requests with the relevant platforms.
  • The success of any takedown request depends on the policies of the receiving platform and is outside Origo's control.
  • Bulk takedown packages may be generated for multiple incidents simultaneously.
  • You are responsible for the accuracy of any information included in takedown notices generated through Origo.

17. Origo Resolve — Legal Referral Service

Origo Resolve facilitates introductions between creators and independent intellectual property counsel. Origo is not a law firm and does not provide legal advice. The "no recovery, no fee" structure is offered by participating independent law firms, not by Origo.

  • Resolve case intake includes an eligibility questionnaire and declarations that you must sign truthfully.
  • Case readiness is scored based on completeness. Origo makes no representation as to whether any law firm will accept your matter or as to the outcome of any legal proceeding.
  • Communications within Resolve cases may include attorney-only and privileged messages. Origo is not responsible for the attorney-client privilege status of any communication.
  • Evidence packages may be compiled within a Resolve case, including original images, misused images, screenshots, blockchain records, and other documentation.
  • Origo does not guarantee any financial recovery and is not liable for the outcome of any legal proceeding.

18. Agency Accounts

Agency accounts allow a single user to manage multiple protected identities and monitor assets across multiple creators or brands. Agency elevation requires admin-level approval and may be obtained through invoice-based billing (delayed access until payment) or comped instant access granted by an Origo admin.

  • Agency accounts may have custom identity limits, monthly pricing, and team member configurations.
  • Agency checkout is processed through Base44 Payments. Access is activated automatically upon successful payment.
  • Comped agency accounts receive full access without payment, as determined by Origo at its sole discretion.
  • Agency account holders are responsible for all activity under their agency, including the actions of team members and representatives.

19. Keyword Monitoring and Alerts

Origo provides keyword and phrase monitoring that periodically searches the web for specified terms related to your identity, brand, or assets. Results are delivered as alerts within your dashboard.

  • Keyword alert results are generated by third-party search providers and may include false positives or irrelevant results.
  • Search frequency and result volume are limited by your subscription plan.
  • You are responsible for the keywords and phrases you configure and must not use this feature to monitor individuals in violation of applicable law.

20. Support Tickets

Origo provides an in-app support ticketing system for account access, billing, technical issues, verification, image registration, impersonation, and feature questions. Support tickets are reviewed by Origo staff during business hours.

  • Response times are not guaranteed and may vary based on ticket priority and volume.
  • Urgent priority should be reserved for time-sensitive matters such as active impersonation or ongoing infringement.
  • Abuse of the support system — including spam, harassment of staff, or fraudulent submissions — may result in account suspension.

21. Prohibited Uses

You may not use the Services to:

  • Register images or videos you do not own or are not authorized to register.
  • Attempt to claim ownership of images that are in the public domain or are another creator's work.
  • Use comparison, monitoring, or impersonation detection tools to harass, stalk, or intimidate individuals.
  • Circumvent, reverse-engineer, or tamper with the steganographic watermarking system, cryptographic handshake, or live verification features.
  • Submit false misuse reports, abuse reports, impersonation reports, or legal case intakes.
  • Misrepresent your identity, account type, or verification status.
  • Use Origo trust marks on assets not registered on Origo, or misrepresent the verification status of any asset.
  • Use keyword monitoring or identity monitoring to surveil individuals without lawful basis.
  • Attempt to access another user's account, data, or protected identity records without authorization.
  • Use the Services for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable law.

22. Intellectual Property

You retain all copyright in images and videos you register. You grant Origo a limited, non-exclusive license to store, display (on verification pages), fingerprint, and process your assets solely as necessary to provide the Services. This license terminates when you delete your asset or close your account, except for blockchain records as noted in Section 8.

Origo's platform, including its name, logos, trust marks, verification page designs, and software, is protected by intellectual property rights. You may not copy, modify, or distribute Origo's platform assets without express written permission.

23. Third-Party Services

The Services rely on third-party providers including blockchain networks (Polygon), search providers (Google Lens via SerpApi), identity verification (Stripe Identity), payment processing (Base44 Payments / Wix Payments), email delivery (Resend), and social platforms (Instagram). Origo is not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or policies of these third-party services. Each third-party service is governed by its own terms and privacy policy.

24. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Services are provided "as is." Origo does not warrant that verification, comparison, monitoring, impersonation detection, context analysis, or takedown services are error-free or that any registration constitutes a legal copyright registration. Registration on Origo is a timestamped provenance record — it is not a substitute for copyright registration with a government authority. AI-generated analyses, risk scores, and similarity assessments are advisory only and may contain errors.

25. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Origo's aggregate liability to you for any claim arising from these Terms or the Services is limited to the fees you paid to Origo in the twelve months preceding the claim. Origo is not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any damages arising from the actions or inactions of third-party search providers, law firms, social platforms, or other external services.

26. Account Suspension and Termination

Origo reserves the right to suspend or terminate your account at any time for violation of these Terms, suspected fraud, or conduct that Origo determines is harmful to the platform or its users. Upon suspension, your registered assets may have their public visibility disabled and their credential status marked as suspended or revoked. Blockchain records remain permanent regardless of account status.

27. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated by email to registered account holders. Continued use of the Services after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
